[Visual Novel] A shade of blue

A shade of blue is a kinetic short story, written and developed individually by me in less than two weeks for My First Game Jam Summer 2019.

It is a short story + ‘room escape’ game where two detectives, Jasmine and Tanya, are on a stakeout in which Tanya mysteriously ends up in Jasmine’s apartment while Jasmine remains asleep at the stakeout site.

Can be found and downloaded on itch.io.

A devlog and postmortem was written shortly after the jam concluded. It can be found here.

During the Yuri Game Jam 2017, I contributed character artwork and a romantic end scene, collaborating with a team over two months.

Spoilers for the game ahead!

I sketch, lined and colored the character Maggie Rook, late reveal daughter of the Grifter who mistakenly stabs her, utilizing idea sketch references provided by the game’s art director.

Character sheet of various expressions.

The last two sprites were unused sprites, illustrated for the purpose of showing the characters’ uncovered hair.

I was also tasked to draw the romantic end scene for the character Cassandra and was allowed to illustrate in my personal style to capture the mood.

End card illustration for the main character and the character, Cassandra.

Creating artwork for a visual novel was an enjoyable experience, especially since I myself am interested in creating a visual novel (or something of the sort that uses character portraits). I’m honored to have been able to contribute a little something to the project, as well as honored to have been able to work with such a great team of people!

Finally, an alternate outfit illustration to promote the game.

Illustration of characters, Cassandra, Iris, Vic, and the main character.

[FP Narrative] Room for thought

Room for thought, a game about (not) packing your bag. Explore Persi’s new room as she ponders some sentimental and some not sentimental belongings all while avoiding packing for her trip.

A game made in two weeks for My First Game Jam taking place in Summer of 2017, it’s a jam that encourages people of all skill levels to learn something new. In my case, I learned C# in Unity to program simple raycasts + text displays, as well as practiced my 3D modeling in Blender.

The story shown here is one I’d like to expand on once I’ve gotten more experience with coding, but I felt like this product of my efforts properly displayed a good foundation for what I want to achieve.

The full devlog for this project is documented here.
